Message from the Chairperson

Over the past 40 years, we have made steady progress through both challenges and successes, encountering countless precious moments along the way. We have witnessed people with disabilities shine with confidence on stage, express themselves on canvas and be deeply engrossed in the creative process; we have seen audiences reflect on the transformative power of the arts and reimagine the true meaning of ‘inclusion’. Such moments have not only shaped the development of ADAHK but have also played a crucial role in advancing inclusive arts in Hong Kong.
As we reflect on this remarkable journey, we know that we have come this far thanks to the unwavering support and dedication of our committee members, artists with disabilities, carers, partners, funding bodies, donors, volunteers, and friends from all sectors of the community. Your trust, encouragement, and generosity have allowed us to stay true to our mission: creating more opportunities for people with disabilities to learn, create, perform, and connect. We strive to ensure that the arts remain a space where everyone can participate, express themselves, and shine.
On our 40th anniversary, we invite you to revisit this journey with us through our series of ‘40 Stories.’ These stories capture not only the milestones of ADAHK but also showcase how lives have been inspired and enriched through creative expression. Each story stands as a testament; each testament is a source of strength that motivates us to continue our mission.
Looking to the future, we remain committed to our mission and will continue to collaborate with all sectors of society to advance inclusive arts and foster a more inclusive society. We hope that more people with disabilities can find their place in the arts and that the arts will continue to enrich every life.
